Southrun is one of the Terran nations that Explorers may come from. It is in the continent Ralan.

A Brief History

In ancient times, Southrun was part of the Cajaran Empire, but gained independence in the 4th century. Southrun developed into a mighty sea-faring nation and a colonial power, conquering several small island nations. Its aggressive military might and fleet of technologically advanced ships made it a dominant world power from the 14th to 18th centuries, despite its relatively small landmass. After Windhorn and several other ex-Southrunian colonies declared independence in the 20th century, Southrun has become less reliant on its military and has instead focused on peace-keeping and global diplomacy.

Today, Southrun is a multicultural nation, with a large percentage of its citizens having non-Southrunian ancestry. As a result, many major world religions are represented in Southrun, including Baridism, Malonism and Tirianism. A small minority keep the old folk religions alive, still worshipping Old Kesh, Merinda, and the rest of the pantheon of sea-faring gods, but even those Southrunians who no longer believe in the old gods still invoke them in day to day speech.

Geography

Southrun is a small nation, bordered by Cajara and Avimont. Its southern coast is infamous for both wild weather and teeming sea life. Southrun is one of Terra's rainiest countries, with more days of rainfall than any other in the world. Most Southrunians live in the north, which has consistently warmer weather, but the southern city of Port Thane remains an economic hub.
