Kyhun
Kyhun is one of the Terran nations that Explorers may come from. It is in the continent Aranak.
A Brief History
Kyhun was once the largest nation on the Aranak continent, stretching all the way up across the continent’s northern coast. Baridism, the oldest currently-practised religion in the world, began in Kyhun several thousands of years ago. The Kyhun Sultanate was centred in the south in the former capital, Folun, ruling over twenty-eight different tribes, each with their own traditions. The southern tribes tended to settle in one place, while the northern tribes were horse-riding nomads; seven of these tribes would splinter off in the 12th century and form another nation, Gerana. Kyhun was a very wealthy nation during the next few centuries due to the spice trade; other major exports included horses and woven fabric. By the 16th century, there was a large gap between rich and poor in Kyhun, which only increased over the years, leading to a People’s Revolution in 1822 which overthrew the Sultan. After around fifty years of turbulence following the revolution, Kyhun’s political tensions calmed down for most of the 20th century where they became a leading world power, developing a space programme. In more recent years, conflicts have arisen due to Kyhun’s water pollution issues, including armed conflict with West Gerana over access to the Akhun River.
In recent years, Kyhun has suffered several years of economic decline, with rising unemployment rates a particular issue. Barido was hit particularly hard by Hurricane Chasta in 2052, which set the country back a bit financially, and ongoing air and water pollution issues in Akhun City have made the city a difficult place to live. Lubira, the capital, and the old capital of Folun, are the two most prosperous areas of Kyhun; their ISEA headquarters are based in Lubira.
Geography
Kyhun is a rocky, mountainous nation with a temperate climate. Its main body of water is the Akhun River, which runs from its source in Lake Synar through to the north coast of West Gerana. The country’s most famous plant, the rissa tree, grows on the slopes of the Basalin Mountains.
